crowning tool needed ***UPDATE***

I hacksawed it, then clamped on a straight edge and filed er down. Then took scotch tape and covered the pilot on the lee cutter. Cut the recessed crown with the lee cutter by hand with wd40. Then went back and blued the outside lip after hitting with 2k grit sandpaper. I put on a lathe to chck contrecity and it was perfect!

Finished Product Kg guncote od with black mist. 20' bull, marine tex & sand grip, timney trigger, hs stock, weaver bedded base 20moa, talley rings, swfa 10x mil/mil and a 20.00 all steel bipod of cheaper than dirt

Thanks for the tip. I saw this post when it started and thought about it today while handloading and using my Lee case length gauge. I've had an old Enfield for years that somebody "bubbaed" up cut down the barrel to 18" spray painted and "sporterized". I did quite a bit of work to remove the paint, re blue it, remove the two stage hump and lighten the trigger, install a scope mount and 3-9x40.

The crown has looked like crap ever since I bought it and it's only been marginally accurate. So after re reading your post I took a leap and filed the end of the barrel square. Then I chucked the cutter up in my drill and gently started to cut a new crown stopping frequently and cleaning out chips as I went. This was followed by the chamfer tool then spinning it muzzle down on some very fine 800 grit sandpaper backed by a sponge to remove the remaining file marks. After that I spun it muzzle down on a scotch brite pad to polish the finished product and it looks great. all that's left is to re blue the end of the muzzle and go see how she shoots.
