Ok, I think I know the answer but why bob the hammer?

My assumption is to negate snags...but is it worth it to lose the single action? Or are your expectations to never need to use it? I only ask because that's why I carry a humpback. Shrouded frame to reduce snagging but the thumb pad is still there for single action if I need it.

Prevent snags. I don’t use single-action on carry revolvers.

I don’t even know if that’s the grips I’m going to keep on them. They were loaners I borrowed from a buddy.

They look like Ahrends grips. If not, I would check Ahrends out. Smooth combat in Ebony would be sweet on that pistol.

I understand. The precision marksman in me wo t allow myself to not have it, though. What if need to make a shot at distance with precision? Likely to happen? Doubtful. But I want it. Cool pistol...always good to get a bucket list ticked.

I’m using 175grn Winchester Silvertips. It’s a light magnum made for defensive use. Out of a 3” barrel, should have just a tad more energy than a 125grn .357 Magnum, yet still be easily controllable.

Yeah I'm digging the hell out of that top left one. Plus there's something about a 3" barrel on a revolver that's just cool to me.

I really dig Silvertip ammo. That's what's in my wife's Kel Tec P32. I figured if that's the one specific round the original Seacamp was designed for it must be a damn good round.

You can still shoot it single action if you want to. Pulled the trigger slightly, catch the top of the hammer with your thumb, and ear ‘er back.

Your likelihood of having to make a precision single-action shot is less than your likelihood of having the hammer snag on clothes, in my opinion. YMMV. If John Wesley Hardin hadn’t snagged his hammer he wouldn’t have gone to prison! He beat the Texas Ranger to the draw, but snagged his hammer on his suspenders. The Ranger drew out and pistol-whipped JWH with his 7.5” Colt SAA.

I’m used to shooting DA and can make a precision shot as fast and accurately in DA as I can in SA. In the time it takes me to thumb a hammer for SA, I can pull the trigger far enough to stage the hammer all the way back in DA, which also has the bonus of me not losing my firing grip by moving my thumb. I know because I’ve tested myself on it when I ran a Revolver in USPSA. Wanted to see which made more sense speed- and accuracy-wise when hitting some of the faraway steel poppers. If I can drop Colt poppers at 25-50yds in DA, I don’t need SA.

It’s all in your personal capabilities and what you’ve trained yourself to do.
