D-Day - Something Ought To Be Said

My father and his buddy signed up together and went. He was a great man and father. There was a stoic duty and simple masculinity around them that would never comprehend today's "safe spaces" generation. There is a reason we only live so long....

Don't worry Google has Doodle for Google US Winner listed today in remembrance

Being in a glider with a jeep would scare the **** out of me in itself!....didn't know that was a thing....😳

I either read or watched in a documentary that the first casualty of D-Day was actually one of the men that came in on one of the gliders and was shot once the fighting kicked off. Early hours of the morning before the amphibious assault began.

The story of the gliders on D-Day are unbelievable. I highly recommend reading up on it.

Landed behind enemy lines and were supposed to sabotage the Germans ability to reinforce the beaches. Fighting off tanks and machine gun nests with no supporting force. Some serious grit those men had.
