Daily Driver Porn!

I thought the GTRs had carbon ceramic. I assumed this was the reason for the cost.

Dealer cost - the exact reason I own one of my cars. The valve and timing chain covers were leaking oil. The previous owner was quoted $1800 for repairs at the dealer. I bought the car for $600 and will be replacing gaskets myself.

I am 99% sure they never have. Should be brembo 2-piece non carbon ceramic rotors.

Picking up Hoosier slicks for my 93' supercharged Miata this weekend. Have all the decals for the car too. Will be running in SSM class for SCCA. Will post pics once the tires are mounted on my Heliums and get the graphics on.

That's correct. Factory rotors are two piece (Iron with aluminum hats). I was looking at some Carbon Ceramic rotors from Alpha Performance. They are $12,700 for the rotors alone, or the Stillen ones with adapters, lines, and pads for a staggering $18,000. I don't mind spending 10-12K-ish for the 62lbs rotational mass savings (+no brake fade), but once I saw there was mixed reviews on being able to retain the E-brake, that's when I decided against it.

Like Wallace said though, for what the dealer wants for OEM replacements (6K OEM non discounted vs say 3K OEM Amazon) I could go with a upgraded aftermarket rotors (still iron two piece) with better pads for under 4K.

I am still contemplating removing my e-brake on my Miata (homo ride). Less rolling resistance and track modding the rear calipers can give a true instant "off rotor" pad feel to the rear brakes upon pedal release. Takes getting use to, but the extra control is nice. If you track the car mostly, it would be a nice upgrade. As a daily driver, not really, brake is a must in some situations.

Still, multiple thousands for brakes not made of any exotic materials is irritating to say the least. Personally, I could justify $1000-1500.

2007 camry. People think it's a 2016 because I keep it clean. Just got the windows tinted last week.
