I'm not an expert but have a friend who is .....would not use anythang that's not oil based. Maybe a lil diesel fuel dabbin and quickly follow up with gun oil?? It's worked on knives before

Not recommending it but i've seen knife blades in this shape soaked in diesel fuel over night

Vinegar is an acid.
I agree that leaving it alone is the best course. If you are set on removing it put a piece of cotton on the area and soak it with Kroil, wipe off after soaking a few hours.
