The wife of an old friend asked me to make him a sgian dubh as a surprise for his birthday. We got a special treat in presenting the blade because she asked that my wife and I show up to his birthday dinner at a local restaurant. He was indeed surprised and it was fun to catch up over dinner. I am often reminded that some of my best memories involve a knife!
