Deal Of The Day sidebar has been disabled

Good riddance to "Deal of the Day" if it's not going to be used for its true intended purpose instead of a** clowns hiding behind it so they can make fun of some ones post without the threat of being banned for posting something negative.

Yes, I'm a little bitter and if you want to know why at all keep reading. What some don't care to consider is not everyone on here is a firearms "expert". I told a guy new to the game that was having an issue finding his first firearm at a local box store to join ODT and that I have been a member for years. He does and actually buys a gun marked "Deal of the Day" because notable members were commenting and were saying it was a deal of the day, "I would take if closer" and all the other BS comments we are used to seeing. I was livid!

I know he should have done his research and it's no ones responsibility he didn't catch onto the mockery blah, blah, blah but he's a 21 year old, wet behind the ears that didn't grow up around firearms and when he saw "Deal of the Day" that just happened to be near our home town, he impatiently jumped thinking he would miss an opportunity. So congrats dip *****. The guy some of you were mocking should be thanking you for selling his over priced crap.

Now with that said, take this how you want to take it. Do everyone a favor and if you absolutely can't or refuse to mind your own business and feel the need to "protect the brother hood" from those "price gouging" or "trying to take advantage" or the very least just need some love and attention atleast have the balls to post what you really want to say about how crazy priced something is and accept the consequences as they come. You might just encourage a newbie or less educated about firearms to do a little more research before the jump on that "Deal of the Day".

Rant over. Yes I feel better.

??? 70-80% of merchandise / firearms and firearm accessories including ammo on here is over priced.. And that being said.. what I am seeing it is for the most part selling.
So.... is it your bitter that you did not coach well enough or he did not call you? or both
Only you knew he was a newbie , and if he did-not ask we could not help.

If he asked you about it he would of saved several hundred dollars.

I did the same to a guy I played tennis with several years ago. I ran into him and with him being a liberal Lawyer, He asked with me being a gun guy, suddenly Now it is a good thing, that
He felt he needed a gun for protection. I told him about this site and others but advised him to buy new from a brick store. My advice was everything is CRAZY now and prices were all over the place. We spoke about what and why he wanted and his responses said to me Sig 938. I said he could rent one and shoot it at Ga. Firing Line and if he bought one, check online prices with anything he was seeing anywhere else. This is what I told someone I knew but hadn't seen for 5 years. I don't Believe that we should be the price police, but caveat emptier.

I believe you shouldn't feel bad for trying to help him. But it is not the Deal of the day that got him. Just my opinion>

Nope. Had nothing to do with that. Not my job to coach him or that he should have called me first. If he wanted to be coached he would have asked.

The point is that deal of the day was intended to be a positive thing. To give posting members acknowledgement that others feel it was truly a good deal and give would be buyers a little confirmation, if they didn't already know, that whatever being offered for sale was a good deal. It was not intended to be a mockery button for those that think prices are way out of line obviously hence it was removed for being abused. Period.

Open letter to the owner.

Please restore the Deal of the Day button.

In this day and time of national angst, insecurity, marginalization, divisiveness, poor race relations and outright violence, there are some members of the ODT community that need to feel they have a voice in the classifieds section of this website. These are the beta males, the unprepared, the poor planners and weak spousal partners who most assuredly allow their mates to run roughshod over them when it comes to how the family’s resources are allocated. These members spend their money on what their partner deems necessary instead of preparing for cyclical panics in the gun and ammunition markets. They fail to understand how free markets work, most likely never having worked in private enterprise or owned a business. They now find themselves contemplating knife and ax throwing or pellet gun use as an alternative to their monthly range run by Walmart for a cheap box of 50 rounds of 9mm. Their frustration is real OS.

Imagine being so unprepared for what was surely coming that you now feel helpless to do anything other than interject your unsolicited opinion into another man’s advertisement for something that you could never hope to afford. Since these beta males do not have the intestinal fortitude to actually post their pricing observations in the ads (for fear of being given a warning or point) they’ve been using as a relief valve the Deal of the Day button to display their cleverness in making their opinions known. Without this relief valve, there is no telling the mayhem and insanity that could result amongst these fragile members of the ODT community.

So please, in the hopes of maintaining domestic harmony and the atmosphere of inclusiveness we all strive for as Americans, restore the Deal of the Day button so these poor planners and weak individuals feel they can have some sort of voice in pricing of other, more prepared men’s merchandise.
@palmettomoon you are the man
