Maybe a dealer here has one. But I've got a question. I'm looking at a pre-may dealer sample (keeper). It's in Indiana on a Form 4. From what I understand, I can simply do a F4 to F4 transfer on this since this person was a former SOT? Would this be a timeline more like a F3 transfer (1-2 months), or a normal F4 (6-9months)? Or am I totally off on how this transfer would work? (Everything I've found information wise is for a pre-86 transferable. Not a pre-may sample.)

It's owned by someone that previously was a dealer. It's a pre-may dealer sample. So it's a little different from normal transferables. When a dealer gives up/expires his SOT, the pre-mays get transferred out onto a form 4 for them. I'm a FFL/SOT.

No, it's not a question of IF I can buy it. I know I can buy it. My question is how long out this process would take. If it's as though it's a F4 to F4 in state from two people. Or does it fall into more of the timelines of a F3 to F3 transfer between dealers.

It would be in between. It goes in the long form 4 pile, but when they get to it initially, they'll see you are a dealer and pull it out. Probably looking at 4 months.

For those that don't know, yes pre may dealer samples can transfer on a form 4. Dealer has sot. Dealer buys pre may gun. Dealer gives up license, but gets to keep gun since its a premay. Dealer(now individual) wants to sell gun. They transfer it on a tax paid form 4 (since both parties are not sot payers now).
