Deer ammo question.

I have 223's, but prefer 7.62x39 AR for deer. I think a 62gr-64gr soft point like mentioned or even Gold Dots would do the job. It's all about shot placement either way. If you can't hit the vitals, it doesn't matter what you hunt with.

I know I am now much older and have hunted over 4 decades and have taken deer with many different calibers. I have also lost a few and had others die a slower death at times. I for a long time want them to go as humanely as possible. There is no substitute for good shot placement. We all will at some point have a shot that’s not exactly where we wanted and because of that I use more rather than less. The 30 caliber just can’t be beat. I know that’s just my opinion

Barnes 70 gr vor-tx

My Daughter and I ran the Barnes Vor-Tx, 55gr TSX in our .223 and we dropped numerous deer with that load.

My son started out hunting with a ar in 5.56, he killed several deer, just hope you don’t have to track them as they don’t bleed much and the bullet never made it through the other side
