Deer hunting with a 223

that's the key no matter what you shoot!!!

I shot a swamp deer with a 7mm STW. It wasn't pretty. Wish I used a 223. Used the same gun to kill a 75 lb pig. Head on shot at about 150 yes. Not much meat left again wish I had used a 223. The biggest calber I now us for Southern deer is 6.8SPC.

My kids drop a doe at 98 yards. Neck shot, Dropped Dead in her tracks.

I shot a doe about 150 yards in the neck and she dropped like a rock. I get about half way to her she hops up stumbles in the bushes and I never see her again. I'm sure shot placement had to do with it but I would bet money she would have never gotten up if I would have shot her with a bigger piece of lead. Just my 2 cents worth.
