Defend your life in your home, go to jail?

HE IS MISS INFORMED BEEN SEVERAL SHOOTING IN GA & SC CAROLINA AS OF LATE. HOME OWNERS FOLKS TRYING STEAL OR BREAK IN ONE IN ATLATNA CUSTOMER IN DOLLAR SHOT A ROBBERY SUSPECT NO CHARGES FILED MAYBE ABOVE THE MASON DIXON LINE BUT NOT HERE IN SOUTH NOT YET ANY WAY

Thank you @GAgunLAWbooklet and @sambo77 for the direct answers. Thanks to others for the entertaining responses. I, myself, would protect my family first and then worry about the legalities of it. I don't think my uncle is stupid, but I have no idea why he even planted that thought in her head, other than he likes to argue and likes to be right.

Defend my family and myself, absolutely... to the best of my ability and to the death, if need be.

My question is this... what do you do when/after you call the cops? What do you say or not say? I've heard both sides of the story from don't say anything except, "I will only speak with my lawyer present," to something very basic like, "He/she/it broke into our home/assaulted us and we feared for our lives and acted in self-defense."

My mom was out visiting with my uncle in AZ. He's telling her that if someone breaks into her home looking to do her harm and she defends herself killing the person, the cops will still take her to jail. I assume he means for the night until things get sorted, but it seems to have scared my mom into maybe 2nd guessing herself if the scenario presented itself. She is widowed and lives by herself in north GA. I don't want her to hesitate and/or wait for the cops. She, of course, doesn't want to spend any time in jail. Can anyone speak to this?

• You can shoot to defend yourself and possibly spend a night in jail
• Or you can spend a night or two in the hospital.
• Or you can spend the rest of eternity in the grave.

No offense OP.... but everyone’s got that Uncle. That problems is not that these Uncles don’t know anything ... the problem is that they just know so much that ain’t true.
