It becomes more interesting if you go beyond a single (biased?) web site (Snopes) and seek more than a cursory short response. The program that started with Regan was for a land line for those without a phone, it however was expanded.

I did say that the phone program began in the 80's and that the mobile phone program began in 2008 under Obama. Did I say anything that is incorrect? Damn liberals can't read or comprehend text in posts either. I'm not blaming Obama for the cell phone problem. The welfare cases that are getting the phones are giving OBAMA the credit for the program... Not us supposedly racist conservative white folks.

Nobody started compaining about the phones until the poor welfare cases started saying "Vote for Obama because he gave us free phones... Obama Phones... Vote for Obama because he gives us free phones..." Sure they are wrong but I'd complain about it if they gave them free "Regan Phones"... I have to pay my damn bill. They should too.

i know a few older gentlemen that get a free phone they come with dollar amounts or like 200 minutes so they don't last long if you talk a lot , most of the people that has them still pay $50 or more a month for more minutes , it isn't like they are unlimited
