Looking to add a big pistol to the collection. Never shot either, will only be a range toy. Needing some help on deciding which gun to go with or of a better option.

Desert eagle 50ae vs S&W 500

Get a 460S&W instead. Basically same size as 500, but you can also shoot 454 Casull and 45 Colt with it.
No experience with the AE but 2nd the 460. There's a 500 that lives in my safe and Snickers when I walk past cause it knows I can't afford to shoot it.
Maybe you need to get into reloading where you can afford to shoot that thing.LOL
Desert eagle all the way. Easy to add optics. Also you can get that extended slide
Shot them all, and own four smiths. The 460 is the most fun for me but shooting the 500 with some 700 gr. heavy loads will really impress your friends. Highly recommend reloading to keep the cost to a minimum.
The desert eagle can barrel swap to 44 mag and 357 mag. I would go that route with the barrels. 7 rds of semi auto 44 mag ain't no joke
