7.3........ i have an 03 212k miles and its needed a water pump, starter, and i just rebuilt the oil cooler. Other than those reg maint items i have not touched it. May mot be the most powerful bu todays standards but it was the most powerful truck i had ever had in 03 so im content with it.

Had a 2001 f250 with a 7.3. Drove it 17 years with only replacing the starter once the batteries about 5 times. Had the tranny rebuilt one time at 250000 . Great truck , My new truck is a 2018 chevy 3500 dually with the new 6.6 Duramax.440 hp. 914 ft. pounds of torque. Tows my5th wheel nicely. Ford , Chevy or Dodge take your pick they all have there pluses and minuses. Unless you're towing heavy loads often I'd get a gas burner.

Ol cornbread here has 449k. 24 valve cummins. OG motor

Love the 6.7. Absolutely fantastic motor. As I saw it said above, if they'd take a Cummins, put it in front of an Allison, then drop it into a Superduty we'd really be talking. Really truly though the new 6.7 would be the only Powerstroke to consider unless you find a great deal on a 7.3, because the motor may be great but by now all of the rubber parts are shot.
