Two-toned my SR1911 with KG Gunkote. Good stuff.

When I built "The Big Chicken" A1 early Vietnam era furniture and 3 prong flash hider, my Colt A1 upper was kind olive drabbish grayish ...It didn't match the black lower. Not wanting to spend a heap having it cerakoted, I opted for trying different colors of spray paint. I finally got close by holding a can of krylon olive in one hand and a can of light gray aerosol carpet dye in the other and spraying light mists and letting many light coats dry between sprayings. The difference in color of the upper and lower were only really noticeable under camera flash. So, I ended up putting a light mist of the gray carpet dye on the upper too. Then I let the thing cure in my gun vault for a year. So far, the finish is rock solid...but cured a little more towards gray and hardly a hint of olive at all.
