Decided I wanted the grippiest grip possible on one of my spare Glock frames. Flew through this 'grip job' in under an hour. Borders could be made prettier, but I'm lazy. If anybody else wants to try their hand PM me for some free 36 grit silicon carbide. I have more than a lifetimes supply.

Spare Glock 17 stripped frame:

Rough up surface with some 150 grit sandpaper, slightly lowered the checkering to account for the thickness to be added. Now would be the time to contour grip however you see fit. I want to keep thr frame Production legal:

Wash frame with dish soap and hot water, and then scrub with rubbing alcohol. Mask off anywhere you don't want Silicon Carbide.

Mix original JB weld (not quick cure variety) and paint on to grip. Use brush to smooth out as much as possible. Cover the JB'ed surface in Silicon Carbide.
