honestly pretty soon DNA evidence wont be a thing they will need to get a search warrant to obtain; people are giving it away freely to ancestor tracker websites and the police can use a relatives DNA to match yours close enough these days.

Almost 30 years he's been living free as a bird....
The cup was in the trash, no longer in his possession. I thought this type of situation was well covered by precedents.
Yeah, not the first time trash has been used. Saw one case where an investigator followed a suspect into Wendy's and swiped his cup as soon as he threw it in trash.
Also a reason investigators give suspects drinks in interrogation.
Having a non-LEO obtain the evidence for them at the suspect's workplace is a new one to me. Unfortunate it has taken so long.
