Do Glocks have safeties?

The manual safety pictured above was developed for the JCP program that is now defunct. There were a few Glock 21s made for trial guns; but you're not going to find any pistols with that safety "in the wild" here in the US.

I can honestly say that I've never owned a firearm that didn't have a manual safety. They aren't necessary to prevent a ND, but I have never heard a valid argument not to use one if you train properly.

My G22 is my home def. gun. I have a 5 year old boy. I do not keep this gun in the safe, but it is up on a very high shelf where he can't get to it. Just makes me feel a little better about it sitting there chambered.

You need to be very careful. That 5 year old will get into places that you would not expect. I would suggest you get a small, one gun safe and use it. Or keep the ammo seperate from the gun. I know those options make it difficult for you if you need the gun but safety is most important with your son.

It also has keyed back up. This also happens to be my nightstand safe, I can guarantee that I can get in at a moments notice, I crack it open atleast 3 times a day and it has keyed backup, and I set my keys on the nightstand (where my safe sits). The purpose of that safe isn't theft prevention, as when no ones home, no guns are in it. The sole purpose of that safe is to keep my toddler out. I will not be that gun owner on the news for having his toddler blow himself away because I left my gun carelessly laying somewhere.

I agree with you 100%. You cannot be to safe when it comes to young children.

Night time is the only time keys are by the safe. Usually both my keys and my gun are on my person. I got tired of putting it up everytime I got home only to put it back on an hour later.
Before my son became mobile, I left it in the nightstand loaded. Then as I realized both his strength and seen he was learning to crawl, I bought the safe. He opens the nightstand drawer despite child locks and has a good deal of strength and wit, he'd know how to pull any gun out of any holster, and deactivate safeties, but nobody besides my wife and I know the 8 digit code. I can't replace either of my kids. Now my daughter could be sitting in the same room as my glocks and not even care. Guns aren't her thing. She's well educated, has held ak's 500 mags, glocks, sigs, berettas, and every gun I've handed her she's treated safely. Eventually my son will earn the same trust, but right now his curiosity dictates his movements, so no place is safe from him. He knows how to take his toy car and put it beside the dresser to Ger into things, he climbs onto way too much, no height is safe from him.

A 5 year old is going to be mostly curious. You have to get rid of that curiosity. Take him to the range and put muffs and plugs on him and let him feel the concussion. Also shoot a watermelon and let him see what it does. He needs to understand there is no coming back from that. Unload it and let him hold it and start the teaching process. Let him know that anytime he wants to see it you will unload it and let him. Once you do this he will not mess with it without you.
This worked for my daughter. She has been around glocks all of her life. I always leave them loaded. She knows this. She is now 11 and can shoot any hand gun I own. She at 8 went inside and retrieve my glock so I could shoot a snake in the back yard. She kept her finger off the trigger and had it pointed in a safe direction. I also let her choose when she wanted to learn to shoot. It was shortly after that.

We've kept Smith and Colt double action revolvers around for 100 years.

I don't see enough difference between the revolvers and most striker fired selfloading pistols to distinguish between the two platforms.

They require the same level/type of safety and discipline when handling.

There's no manual safety on either type that interest me.
