Do people lie to you about the guns they "own"

I was going to have a Desert Eagle .50AE but the douche on ARFCOM sold it out from under me before the meet.

I worked with a guy who claimed he had a fully auto MP5 in his home safe. I thought he was full of it until I moved in two doors down and actually saw it. Turns out his goal was to own every gun he had ever shot while in the Army. He had all the proper paperwork and everything.

Most lies I forget, but years and years ago I worked with one of "those" guys. He had done everything better and more often than everyone. We were heading to a job site and he entertained me with a story about his life in High School. He had taken the ASVAB, like many high schoolers, and a week later he was called to the library to meet with a "recruiter". He said that he knew instantly the guy was a standard recruiter based on his shoes. He claimed that the guy was CIA and wanted my co-worker to come work for them because he ASVAB score was that awesome.

Yeah I think he's a member here on the ODT.Think there's more than one clandestine operator around.

I heard that the army and police had guns..........no need for anyone else to......right?

This is probably in the wrong forum...... but in reference to the above statement:

The general consensus among the people who don't own guns is “Private citizens don’t need firearms because the police will protect them from crime.” We all know that's a joke!

They should be saying "we don't need cops, we have guns to protect us."

New York Sen. Charles E. Schumer on a gun control bill that passed the House: "The bill would close the loophole that allowed the Virginia Tech gunman to buy firearms even though he had been committed to a mental hospital." The horse already got out of the barn... you think? DUH!

New York Sen. Charles E. Schumer urged the Obama administration to adopt a policy requiring the military to inform the FBI when a prospective enlistee is rejected for excessive drug use, claiming the measure would have stopped alleged Tucson gunman Jared Lee Loughner from buying a weapon. Dang, he got out again! DUH!

Here's another good one: Why ban rifles with bayonet lugs? "Banning rifles with bayonet lugs will cut down on all the drive-by bayonetings, I guess." That's about as ridiculous as requiring 10 round magazines instead of 15 rounds.

FACT
: Sweden has the lowest crime rate of any nation on earth and they have a law that every house owner must own and keep a gun. Not only that, they are trained to use that gun. No outlaw would dare enter that house as long as they know someone is there who has access to and can use that gun. Doesn't Kennesaw have a similar law?

Yes, Kennesaw has a similar law, although they don't really enforce it.

Kennesaw's law was passed back in 1982 but I can not imagine that it is enforced or monitored. Then again, I've never had a legal residence in Kennesaw. The law reads as follows:
(a) In order to provide for the emergency management of the city, and further in order to provide for and protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants, every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefore.

(b)
Exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who suffer a physical or mental disability which would prohibit them from using such a firearm. Further exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who are paupers or who conscientiously oppose maintaining firearms as a result of beliefs or religious doctrine, or persons convicted of a felony.
