Do people lie to you about the guns they "own"

Back to topic, I was helping a feller clean a deer Thursday and a guy rode by and saw us and pulled in to the driveway. He stood around and shot the breeze for a while and part of his conversation included the following, "I shot a deer Monday about 400 to 450 yards with my 30/30 lever action". I asked, "what ammo did you use in that long range weapon?" His reply was the ammo you get at Wal Mart. I told him that he owned the shootinist damn 30/30 I have ever heard of and if I owned it, I would get into some long range shooting competitions with it! His reply was, "I am looking into it now and have talked to a few sponsors". I just shook my head and left.
If you see him again tell him I will sponsor him that is some great shooting. Haha

lol a guy I used to work with said all kindsa things..not so much about what he's had, but what he's experienced. Said once he stopped using Glocks because he was riding with a buddy of his and he had one in the car. It had a mag in it, but an empty chamber. Said they got in an accident and by the time it was over there was a round chambered in the Glock..now I'm not saying it could never happen, but Glocks aren't THAT magical:peep:. The list of ballistic diarrhea that came out of his mouth could go on, but I won't go there.

He must have meant 400 ft. Honest mistake from an honest fellow..........yeah riiiight!

I knew a guy that could print <.25" groups at 100 yards with his KUSTOM TOONED 1911. (It was a base model GI Springer) I was watching him shoot 10" groups at the 10yard line and he said it was only because he was using store ammo and not the loads his gun was tuned for. When I asked what grain he was shooting he told me the custom loads were 55 grain 45ACP +P+ loads. Man! Must have been INCREDIBLE! I still feel bad I didn't get to see him in action. (It was YEARS ago at a WMA range.)

Oh damn! A new word for my gun jargon list. "Ballistarrhea"!

sure. I had one friend of a friend that use to talk all that crap. He had 300 round drums, glock .380s full auto m-16s. You name it. When I ask for proof.. she clammed up. Some people who know nothing about guns try to impress you and really all they do is make their self look really stupid.

Must have been reading a catalog. As I remember, the Euro's had .380 Glocks. I want to see that 300 rounder. Bet the dude won't OC that in Walmart.

I have a semi-auto grenade launcher mounted to the front of my truck... (Honest.)

I no longer collide with deer, I BBQ them and have a little roadkill snack.

One of my friends buddies tried to tell me he had a full auto baby Glock. Wouldn't ever show me of course. Such a shame.
