Do you carry without a round chambered?

My wife is notorious for carrying hers in her purse without a round chambered. I showed her this clip the other day hoping it would change her mind.........the jury is still out on whether it will take or not.
My wife is not a "gun person" at all. I have finally convinced her to at least keep one in her car. Beretta 96g (decocker only) with one in the chamber and crimson trace grips. Given her level of skill idiot proof with a laser is her best chance.

Every time she gets pulled over she'll tell the cop its there. He'll usually scold her for the one in the chamber. I've told her to ask if his chamber is empty, but of course she doesn't.

Mines not either ,as you could probably guess. Lol
We're going on about 40 years together and I've been a gun fanatic the whole time. I feel like I've failed miserably on her gun training. You know I get her out shooting and she does pretty good handling it and shooting then she'll go six months or a year without shooting and we're back to square one.lol
I don't know about you but I have mixed feelings about that volunteering info to a cop that I have a gun with me if he doesn't ask?

I'm with you. Only time I mention it is if they're going to see it soon anyway, like I will expose it when I go for my wallet or something.

I don't think my wife would even try for the gun unless one of the kids was with her, and hopefully she'd hand it to them lol. I can't overcome all her semi-liberal gun hangups that predate me, but my boys have been raised raised to have their heads screwed on straight.

I once heard her telling them "if someone just wants to rob you thats not a reason to kill them, just give them what they want." As soon as she left the room I said "hey" and they cut me off with "I know, Mom's so naive, trust me I'll shoot any m'fer that tries it."

plenty of people won't carry a semi-auto with a round chambered.
They aren't the kind of people who go to gun shows, take training classes, or register at gun chat sites like this one. But there are huge numbers of them out there. They just don't trust manual safeties, and don't think it's safe or responsible to carry a loaded and "cocked" gun on a daily basis regardless if it has a safety lever, or if you use it.

If I can't convince such people the errors in their thinking, I try to steer them toward a double-action revolver or a DA-Only semi-auto. That long relatively heavy trigger pull can be enough to convince them that it won't just "go off" by accident. Everybody knows that revolvers are supposed to be carried loaded, but a lot of newbies who learn about gun handling from watching TV thinks that it's normal to draw a gun, point it at somebody, make verbal threats, and THEN, when you have to shoot, rack the slide.
