Do you carry without a round chambered?

I have to admit I did that for a bit when I first started carrying. In fact the first two weeks or so I carried the gun completely empty... I just needed to see what it felt like, what the problems would be, etc.

My first carry gun was a Ruger LCR in 38/357 though, so once I started loading it up, it was always fully loaded. Maybe if I'd been carrying a pistol I might have done a few more weeks empty chamber, but my plan was always to carry fully loaded once I was comfortable.

Drop out the magazine, triple check it's unloaded and practice drawing and holstering till you're 100% comfortable. Stick in unload mag if required, triple check it's unloaded and draw then dry fire till you're 100% comfortable. Then go to a range away from people if possible and do the same with one round till 100% comfortable. Then dump a few full mags till you're 100% comfortable. OR just buy a revolver.

the only reason i carry one in the chamber is because i cant carry two!!!

Actually, you can.

Two chambered rounds in one handgun.
