Do you commute? What does cost you?

Yeah, early in my career I lived in Schaumberg, IL and commuted to Downtown Chicago, right on Michigan Ave. I did it for about 9 months before I realized what a "killer" it was.
Three hours a day, 15 hours a week. Plus tolls, "L" fares, train fares, parking. I drove it, I used public transportation....it was the same MAJOR hassle. I swore I would never do it again, would always take a job close to where I could live.

Even when I moved to ATL 15 years later, the first question I asked the headhunter when he said the job was in ATL, "downtown or suburbs"? Had it been the former, I would have never moved down here. As it was, I took a job near Gwinnett Mall, in 1988 not nearly as scary as nowadays, and found a house in Lawrenceville 5 miles/10 minutes away. When I worked as an insurance examiner, traveling all over the country, I always stayed at a hotel near the office where we were working.
