So are a lot of other activities by law enforcement, but they still happen, just not written down in the job description.

Well, the pc for a road block stopping everyone assuming they are possibly guilty is the same as assuming every person who carries a gun is possibly in violation as well

Whoa there CN, don't be giving our men in blue any ideas . If an officer sees that you are carrying (not hard to do with some jokers) is there any law that says he can't legally stop you and ask to see your CWP? Just askin' .

It is also my understanding that no one with the exception of State Patrol can issue a ticket for doing less than 10 miles an hour over the speed limit. One of the exceptions to that I if you are in a school zone. There may be others.

IF they were stopped for this amount over the limit there is more too the story or the officer was in violation of Georgia law.

I’ve had many, many people tell me they were stopped for lesser amounts, and later found out it was untrue or the officers reduced the warning to help out the kid with their families.
But if they get home with a sob story of how scared they were and the officer was a dick, some parents will be distracted by the actual problem, their kids are driving like fools.

State officers can stop for under 10mph but they rarely do.
I’m sure it’s possible an officer will pull over for under 10. But why would they, knowing anything they find after that will be thrown out of court and he/she would face disciplinary actions if he did?
Hell he could find a dead body in the trunk and the perp would walk free.

I have serious doubts about the validity of these “stories” of being pulled over for less than 10 other than a school zone of other designated safety areas, which are very few.

Yea....we haven't raised any "fools" "Here". I don't know about there? There was enough violation that the pos got fired. And I stay on my daughter (my oldest is now living on her own doing well) about her driving ; she (my youngest hasn't had to deal with said cop = no tickets

Absolutely the worst thing you can do is assume that other driver's are the same as yourself. I promise that after 8 years of doing LEO and 6 years of FIRE/EMS, you truly have no idea who is behind the wheel of that 4,000 lbs of metal coming at you at 60 mph. I can give you all the statistics in the world and your opinion will never change until it does, and unfortunately that is only when you or your family become a victim. Statistically that will probably happen to at least a couple members of this forum - such is life. If you feel like you should warn people, then fine, stick it to the man and flash your lights until they blow - just remember, you are warning the unlicensed, the suspended, the wanted, the non-insured, the crew that just robbed your neighborhood, the stolen vehicles, the meth carriers, and pretty much every kind of person that gets b""ched about on these forums. - - Whatever you decide to do, just don't be a hypocrite and one day start a thread about a bad driver who crashed into you and the police should have stopped them . . . hypocrites really piss me off . . .

Plus it sounds like many of the “flashers” on here may have drunk the same KoolAid as Libby Schaaf, Mayor of Oakland. Yeah, yeah, I know that warning MS13 members that ICE is coming is not the same as helping someone avoid a speeding ticket but...........................similar flavor .

As Spiderman has pointed out those oncoming motorists may just be a rapist, illegal, pedophile, drunk etc. or maybe a bad guy heading off to rob your house. Or even, heaven forbid, the idiot you had to give bad feedback to the last time you got stiffed by a FTF "no show" trying to sell your overpriced Glock .

I don’t harbor any bad feelings for LEO’s and like most I have had my share of traffic tickets. I recognize that there are good guys as well as the odd rotten egg in any cross section of humanity, it’s a fact of life and I live with it. Also, if you feel that the speed trap is just a revenue raising ploy then be positive and grateful that this “ploy” may just eliminate the need for the authorities to increase your real estate or other taxes to make ends meet. If you “contribute” away from home you can be assured that someone else is probably doing the same thing in your neck of the woods . It all evens out in the long run, except for the chronic speeders of course.

Bottom line is that "you buys your ticket and you takes your chances", so let the other motorists do the same. Do you remember the last time you came up on a speed trap and none of the oncoming cars had bothered to flash you before you got there? It's life man, get out there and live it!

Complain/Report Folks ; if an LEO is acting outside their power. Eventually they will get booted. They'll take up residence in another city/county but if they continue their course...you may see them working at Home Depot
