Do you flash lights to warn traffic of speed traps??

It's amazing how our perceptions can be so different. I see the general public, my fellow man, as good people and do my best to warn them of the states extortion traps. Others see the general public as violent criminals, and the extortionist as the good guy.
It's astonishing, and something I simply can't comprehend.

Gotta love that line of thinking dontcha? Willing and happy slaves.

All these guys on ODT say they want less government and want to be free, but then they defend cops to the end.

They can’t seem to understand that cops are the tools that the government uses to meddle in our lives and keep us cowed down.

It gives the cops a feeling of power over others, so that blinds them to the fact that they’re nothing but disposable pawns being used by the people with the real power.

Sad but true. I have no desire to harm anyone that isn't trying to do me harm, or steal from anyone or cause them any problem. But despite that fact I can be harassed by the gov't agents from any number of agencies anyway simply for doing something THEY said I shouldn't do-whether it's a danger to others or not. Hmmm, like not wearing MY seatbelt, or simply owning a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds in a state that decided that was against "the law", or not paying the thieves in gov't enough taxes that THEY determined was enough. And on and on and on...

Yeah, I thought we all could agree that traps set on the general public aimed at depriving them of their property are bad.

And I don't have a problem at all with law enforcement, several I consider personal friends, of course they're not the ones that set up speed traps or arrest kids for tiny bags of jazz cabbage though. **** those guys

See! I knew I could get you to lighten up Francis…..I mean BangBang
I appreciate the laugh.

You think I’d learn not to click on any Trump or cop threads anymore.

The mindless support/worship/ass kissing of either one makes my blood pressure go through the roof.

I guess I’m a glutton for punishment.

More grist for the mill.................

Traffic citations are a multi-million $$$ source of income for towns and counties in Georgia as the link below shows. These towns and counties, like our Federal government, have become accustomed to living off large budgets. It stands to reason that if you take away or reduce the ability of jurisdictions to harvest this income then it will have to come from some other source. That source may well be a real estate tax increase, a sales tax increase, a gasoline tax increase or even a brand new tax they haven't even thought of yet :mmph: as like most governments in America those in Georgia don’t always consider reducing expenses as an option for balancing a budget.

As stated in the article, a lot of traffic citation money comes from interstate traffic such as snowbirds, truckers, vacationers etc. This doesn't help those Georgia communities that are isolated from interstate traffic to more easily balance their budgets with "yankee" dollars, so maybe the "speed trap" source of income is more galling to those living in rural communities. If this is you and you feel strongly enough about speed traps then go ahead and lodge a complaint with the authorities, as the article states these complaints are investigated and in many cases corrective actions are taken. Don't hold your breath though, and be sure to keep us posted so we can happily follow your progress until we have another PVC pipe story or Berny chimes in and catches our attention :thumb:.

I would argue that no cop sitting by the side of the road radar-ing traffic is doing anything useful to improve public safety.

As a couple of folks mentioned, moving cop cars slow traffic down around them 'naturally'. Speed-trapping cop cars cause people to jam on their brakes, which probably cause more rear-ender accidents than anything other than snow around here. Or rain. Or pollen. Or darkness. Or bright sun. Or a particularly fluffy cloud going by.

I would also think a moving cop car coming up from behind would have an easier time catching really dangerous drivers, the people who swoop across lanes while texting and drinking from a 40. But that's just me...
