Do you have Ringing in your Ears - Tinnitus???? Question about caffeine/tobacco...

Yep, I've had it for years and years, although I never really knew I had it, having learned to tune it out. However, about 10 years ago I searched the house for whatever was making that buzzing noise one day, only to discover that it was ME. lol

I never had high BP until recently, like the ast few months. So I can rule that out. I was never a regular coffee drinker, again until about 2 years ago. But I have always enjoyed Diet Coke, which has caffeine. However, since being a regular coffee drinker, it has no increased in severity. So I don't think that's a causal factor, either.

I was exposed to a lot of loud noises (fireworks, music, stupid kid stuff) in my younger years, and I imagine it's a holdover from that. There is always a faint high-pitched steady chirp, like listening to distant cicadas or crickets. But I have just learned to ignore it, so much so that it never really bothers me.

Ringing for the last 5/6 plus years off and on. When it's on is all the time. BP is fine, no tobacco of any kind and 2/3 shots of espresso first thing in the morning everyday no caffeine after that till the next morning. Mortars/demo/small arms/close to 7 figures of range expenditure

Had a hearing panel and lead levels (blood) done last year, high frequency is completely shot (I had no idea), lead was low and within normal limits.

I work in loud environments and have had 4 arc flash explosions happen right in front of me. That and the concerts and shooting without protection I think is the cause of it. I have heard that caffeine and nicotine make it worse. I took LIPO-FLAVINOID three times a day for the last three days and it is much less intense now. When it is at its worse, I feel like gabbing a ice pick in my ears to make it quit...

Huh?

I have ringing and can't hear worth a **** after working around jet engines for 20+ years. One cup max coffee a day and until recently casual cigar use. I don't think these things have any correlation.

BTW....the absolute loudest and high pitched noise I've ever heard in my life was the Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier. Rolls Royce builds a great engine but it is ****ing deafening working around them!

The ringing in my ears started about 3 or 4 years ago, I stopped smoking 14 years ago, I drdink 1 cup of coffee a day. I don't think one thing has any thing to do with the other. Just my opinion!

I just wish it would stop.

Glad to hear that there does not seem to be a correlation. My morning Coffee and smoke is what makes life worth living...

:amen: brother! smoke, drikn...30+:plane:...try sandwiching between a C-5 and 141, both over the gate...trying to "get"' to a set of headphones...laxing off the wingtip @ compass rose while a B-1 lights it up...the ringing is constant...and forever!

Ringing always, sometimes much worse than others. Occasional pipe or cigar. Controlled hypertension. Plenty of caffeine on a daily basis. Cleared by an ENT as nothing serious. Told me to get used to it. Loud music and lack of hearing protection while shooting is what I blame...
