Do you tell police you have a gun in the car?

Some friends have said they always get away with warnings when they give the gwl with the DL.

The only time I was able to test the theory was on the way from the range with a car full of guns. Go figure. Lol. I did not get a ticket though

Every time. When I get pulled over I lower my windows, turn on inside lights (at night), place the vehicle in park, place both my hands where they can be seen (either out the window or on the steering wheel and wait for them to come up before I move.

Ha, perfect practice makes for perfect execution! Good advice though. Occasionally do ride alongs and it is amazing how much stress is created by just pulling someone over especially early morning hours when windows are foggy or have ice blocking your view inside.

normally, no i do not say anything, i have a couple of times, and they just said ok, i told them as an FYI, but i was younger then, now it is none of their business

Not anymore. The last douchebag I did that with decided to finger**** my XD45 on the roof of my new car and ended up dropping it and making a small nick in the paint.

Not a rarity. Figure the only gun you can be sure they understand how to use safely is the one they were trained with, and maybe not even that. How'd you like to have them accidentally shoot themselves while securing your weapon? How would you explain that without video?

All you have to say is you have nothing illegal in the car !!!!!!!
Putting hands out windows, saying there's nothing illegal in the car, holding the wheel with both hands, ECT Are indicators that the person has had multible contacts with LEO. This usually merits extra attention, not less.Just be normal, but don't be reaching around or under anything. Cops expect you to be looking for things like registration and such, although I would suggest just waiting for the cop to get to the door before and big movements. Most people have one or less encounters with LEO in their life's. Some of y'all that talk about all the times you've been pulled over really worry me. Then again wham I was real young I got pulled over way more than now (maybe five times as a proffesional driver), as I realized the world did not revolve around me...
