Do you tip pre-tax or post-tax?

I tip on final check. Wife who works in a tips business actually told me correct etiquette was to tip before being served as TIPS is To Insure Prompt Service to guarantee your service is great.

That's interesting because I spent years in the business and I would say most tips were pre-tax based.. at least for my bar/grill/ staff....

I've never seen it honestly. Seems the standard these days is closer to 20% instead of 15% but most of the time the tip was 15% of the post-tip amount. It's really a moot point though. Why are you going to take the time to haggle over a ~1% difference?

Very true. I guess I'd like my % to be higher then you did.... LOL
