I took a couple to the range today to teach basic SD with a handgun. The wife was very nervous and frightened of the weapon. Within a few hours she was clearly having a great time and was in friendly competition with her husband. Though she retained proper respect for the handgun she no longer feared it at all. Then I pulled out the AR15 just for some fun at the end of the day.

I thought she might faint! All of her fear and nervousness returned 3 fold. She was asking all of the classic anti-gun propaganda questions. "Why would anyone need one of these for self defense?" "It just looks evil and scary."

We had a conversation, I got her to shoot it and after a few mags, I asked if she would prefer the handgun or the AR to protect her home and children. By the time we were done she was asking what would be a reasonable cost for an AR.

Good for you, Bear.

I was in a non heated debate with a gay guy the other day about firearms. I have known him for about 10 years and he believes all the propaganda. Anyway, his partner is definitely conservative minded so I was glad when he joined the conversation because he was more receptive to my point of view. After a few minutes of re-educating them, I gladly offered up my time, guns and ammo so that they could learn more. They haven't committed to go yet, but I think they will. They were certainly more open to the idea afterwards. I told them my offer stands. I'm a country as cornbread **** kicker in their minds, and they are city dwelling libtards in my mind, but I am more than willing to help them on board any way I can. If for no other reason, it really pisses off other liberals.

And that's the whole point of our Constitution. Freedom to be whoever you want to be, as long as you don't try to legislate who I should be. Anyone that is willing to understand and use the Second Amendment to do that is my ally. Everything else about them is secondary.

That's the best way to do it. I have brought quite a few leftists over to the right in my time and every time it was through self defense and firearms ownership. I think guns are such powerful symbols of liberty that once they see it as a tool that can protect them against the evils of the world the entire liberal ideology starts to fall apart.

I was talking to a liberal photographer a while back who said guns should be banned since they are used to kill people and served no real purpose in society. I asked him if he thought cameras should be banned since they are used by perverts for child pornography, by scammers on Craigslist and peeping toms. He hemmed and hawed about how a camera couldn't kill anyone until I pointed out how much psychological and physical trauma can be caused by a deviant with a camera and then asked if we banned cameras would the photographic crimes go away? The light came on and he finally saw it's the operator and not the object that is responsible for misuse.
