I took a couple to the range today to teach basic SD with a handgun. The wife was very nervous and frightened of the weapon. Within a few hours she was clearly having a great time and was in friendly competition with her husband. Though she retained proper respect for the handgun she no longer feared it at all. Then I pulled out the AR15 just for some fun at the end of the day.
I thought she might faint! All of her fear and nervousness returned 3 fold. She was asking all of the classic anti-gun propaganda questions. "Why would anyone need one of these for self defense?" "It just looks evil and scary."
We had a conversation, I got her to shoot it and after a few mags, I asked if she would prefer the handgun or the AR to protect her home and children. By the time we were done she was asking what would be a reasonable cost for an AR.
Don't write someone off just because they have fallen for the left's BS. Educate!
