I thought his claim to fame was threading his 50 year old gun into 10 year old cans? Too soon?
Damn.....

How about Asians? Mine should be the fastest right?
You can, Im not sure how well an 8" barreled 7.62x54 will suppress. It's kind of a stupid high pressure round.bryan can we do this?....... for science and the good of mankind
I'm proud of it. Trying to get some pics and vids together to let her loose into the world.Heard the .30 can the other day when I dropped off my MPX barrel. Extremely quiet with .300 blk. Very impressed.

So I did some more experimenting today. Serious disclaimer here... the tests I performed today were relatively high risk. The loads worked in my rifle, and did not detonate... today. If you use these results as a basis for your own experimental loads, you do so at your own risk.
I was shooting a 1942 Mosin-Nagant 91/30.
~28.75" barrel
1000' altitude, 72°F, 50% RH
For the base of the load I pulled apart 15 rounds of Hungarian steel core heavy ball. These rounds are loaded with ~45 grains of some stick powder under a 182 grain spitzer boat tail bullet. I re-used all components with the exception of the powder charge which I exchanged with:
10.0 grains of Alliant Unique. (5 rounds)
10.0 grains of IMR Hi-Skor 700x (5 rounds)
10.0 grains of Winchester AA Super Handicap (5 rounds)
I wasn't too worried about the Unique or 700x since I have used them in other subsonic rifle loads. The WSH is what had me a little worried since I haven't been able to find much load data on it aside from a relative burn rate similar to Trailboss and some 9mm loads with it. Given that, I rigged up a remote triggering system to remove myself from the immediate vicinity of the gun for the first round of each series. Turns out it wasn't necessary, but you know.. Better safe than sorry.
So, after the safety rounds, I took 4 shots with each load from a prone position at a man size target at 50 yards. Open sights.
This is the Unique load. I was aiming at the meat of the right shoulder. Grouping was at kidney level. This load looks promising.
[Broken External Image]:
This is the 700x load. I was aiming at the score table at the top right corner of the target.
[Broken External Image]:
This is the WSH load. I was aiming for the miniature target at the top left of the target.

So the loads are all hitting low, but grouping pretty well, IMO. And it goes without saying, but they all left the barrel and stabilized well.
No trace of unburnt powder in the barrel.
No signs of overpressure or leakage on the primers.
Ah, no, if we rolled our own no problem. It would probably be fine out of a 28" barrel too but the blast out of an 8" barrel with surplus ammunition is kind of likeAllow me...
