Does your bug out set up include?

But, you’d still hit it, right?
Sure.

Since I started this by mentioning the dread 700 ....

The current Army XM2010 and the USMC M40 are both pimped out Remington 700 platforms.

700's are relatively inexpensive, easy to maintain, readily available to the public, and will do most jobs every bit as effectively as any flavor or Barrett you can name if the nut behind the bolt does their part.

And what's more, the current Army XM2010 and the USMC M40 are both pimped out Remington 700 platforms.

700's are relatively inexpensive, easy to maintain, readily available to the public, and will do most jobs every bit as effectively as any flavor or Barrett you can name if the nut behind the bolt does their part.
And they are platforms over 50 years old. I wonder if there have been any improvements in the last 50 years. The MK22 demolishes the M40. What if if you need to switch from an anti-personnel cartridge to an anti-material round on the fly out in the field? Oh yeah.. it won't do that. And how about accurate cold bore shots as compared to modern platforms? Yeah...probably not as failsafe there either.

Oh, and the public can purchase a MK22 or AI AX all day. No issues at all.

And no, the M40 will not be as effective...that's why they were replaced.

Of course there have been improvements in the last 50 years. For the average shooter, do those improvements yield a comparable benefit? Are those firearms with the improvements available to the general public? Do those improvements allow the user to achieve results that they couldn't achieve with older technology *in most cases*?

For a 500 yard shot to hit a man-sized target, if that's your objective, a 700 is every bit as capable as anything in the US military's arsenal, provided the gun's optics are dialed in and the shooter is competent.

The public - in general - do not posess the resources to own anti-materiel weaponry. If they did, maybe they'd use the 700 to bag themselves a guy who DID have a 50 cal.
