Dog lovers, what should I do? I’m furious at the vet!

Contacted the original vet. I’m even more irate. No sympathy and very rude. We were literally told “surgery was your choice” ... “just be glad your dogs still alive” ..

I have never been treated like this and just appalled. We just moved here and this vet has great reviews. I just can’t believe this.

After talking to the vet and several attorneys, I think we’re just ****ed.

Oh, and to a few comments, no ... I don’t have $8K laying around either, but I love my dogs and it all happened so fast. I literally feel taken advantage of and I always try to do the right thing.

Thanks for all the input!

If anybody has any idea of what I can do now, I’m all ears.

Small claims court? Minimal filing fees. No lawyers there, right?

Claim must be less than $15,000 to qualify for small claims court in GA...

Or figure out who the Vets malpractice insurer is and file a claim. Just having a claim filed will cause a headache for the vet later on during his renewal process...

Everybody wants to sue. What if you take you car to the mechanic and he changes something and it still doesn't fix the issue. Or your local dr doesn't catch something wrong with you? Do you sue them too?

Even if the second vet didn't do a biopsy, they are supposed to be cancer specialist. He/she obviously thought the diagnosis was reasonable. I agree with others that they should have done their own test unless you took the results from the lab.

You didn't just suddenly get a bill for 8k. They told you what the options were and you decided to go ahead with it.

It’s called VPI insurance for pets. We have a Great Dane that has over $20,000 in surgery at the university of Florida and I would take my anywhere else. But I would sue them fo cost of wrong medical evacuations.
