That's always how they approach. Especially with gas powered stuff, just ban sales and within a few years most of the existing units will have worn out or broken. If they went for a direct "we are seizing your generator" they'd have a revolt on their hands.
 
What will they do when there's a power outage?

What's funny is how they pander the laws to the densely populated areas of Cali. Most of that state is beautiful country side full of farms and vineyards. Lots of trails to hike and 4 wheel on.

New wave of career opportunities for the Jamaicans and Dominicans. They were the most resourceful mechanics and auto body men we had in our shops in NY. You can give them a pile of nuts, bolts, scrap metal, and a welder, and they can spit out a running engine of some sort. They were the most mechanically talented group of people I met. They used to tell me all of the time, their countries had a lack of spare parts so they had to make do with their own methods.
