Done with Nissan….need ODT car buying advice

I’m selling my 2018 Nissan Rogue and looking for something different. Either a Subaru Forester or a pickup. I really only need a pickup for deer hunting and to haul furniture/appliances/etc when we buy them. It’s not used for work or anything heavy duty. Must have room for a car seat, so 4 doors probably required. Must fit in my garage, so compact or mid size.

Considering a Ranger, Tacoma, Ridgeline, GMC Canyon or Maverick.

Who owns a Ranger or Canyon? How ya like it? Any issues?

Anyone test drive a Maverick yet?

Any other suggestions? I want this to be the last car I buy for ten years and I don’t want to replace a transmission.
If you can afford a Tacoma, look no further. I worked in the car business for years. The Toyota Tacoma is the most reliable truck on the market the last 20 years period, and it also carries the highest resale value. Cant say anything about the maverick but rangers, canyons, Colorados all have cylinder issues over time especially in the 5 cylinders and all 3 I saw with a bunch of blown head gaskets. Toyota Tacoma trannys are excellent as well. Seriously look no further if you can afford the Tacoma.

If you want to keep it 10 years you have a better chance with the Tacoma. If the 4cyl you are looking at is an automatic, I would take it on a long test drive full of passengers and make sure you are ok with that 4cyl mated to an auto....If its a manual..go for it, the 4cyl manual Tacoma, is the most reliable!!! The 4cyl auto is also reliable (same engine) but mated to the automatic, it can be rather weak in the getting out of its own way dept. Some people it bothers, some people it doesn't.
I agree

Tacoma. Had an 05. Picked up a 22 3 weeks ago. Love it even more.
Had my kid in the 05. Car seat worked fine, even his giant rear facing one. Put it in the middle of the back row.
You want LED headlights, Tech package for BSM.
Mine has Advance Tech, gives me a bird's eye view of the truck also.

4 cyl Taco does not come in a double cab 4x4. 3.5 V6 in the DC is a proven engine.
Edited. Added 4x4

You can build a double cab SR Tacoma 2WD with a 4cyl Auto for 2022....If you want a 4x4 double cab V6 you are going to have to get the 3.5. You can't build one with the manual transmission though.

I agree with this IF you can afford it.
I’m not a mechanic so I don’t buy anything made buy the drunks in the socialist unions. I just traded in a 16 Tacoma because it needed wiper blades!!! After only 5 years, can you believe it? Buy what you like but I personally wouldn’t own anything that I ever had to even remotely wonder if it would start or leave me on the side of the road within the first 200,000 miles. Nothing wrong with American made just union made

You are right. But SR 4x2 is a utility contractor grade truck.
I have never heard of people wishing they had bought a 2 wheel drive truck instead of 4x4. But I see new threads on Taco forums every month asking if a 2 wheel drive can be converted to a 4x4.

OP will be using his truck for hunting. 4x4 is needed.
