I nearly spat my coffee out!
Mama's cookin' the usual, ham, turnip greens, black eyed peas, cornbread etc....but I just put a Mississippi Pot Roast in the crock pot. Ain't been 5 minutes and it already smells good! Yum!
ok, ok, someone has to bring me this traditional dish to my house today for me to try it - I've never heard of it!

Yeah, I trusted another Italian Yankee w/ New Year's Day menu last year. NEVER AGAIN. I cooked a ham, black eyed peas and collards yesterday. I did let her make the corn bread though
Used all the essential pig food groups w/ hog jowls in the peas, bacon and a bit of smoked butt in the collards and the ham, of course.
Looks good...gotta have some greens and it would be good to go...
