Eatonton is definitely a "speed trap". The city police caught some jack wagon doing 63 in a 35, through the middle of town. As it turned out, dude man was smoking the rope and had 4 lbs in da boot.

The GSP pulled over one on the 441 bypass doing 76 in a 55, it just so turned out he was smoking da rope and had 2 ARs, 2 22 lr, a bullet proof vest, a 100 round drum, and 30 30+round mags. Oh yeah, and some methamphetamines. He was 18 years old and was on his way squirrel hunting but didn't know when season was.
Season had been out a month. lol

yeah the code inspectors are out of hand.They let some live in unfinished homes with borrowed electricity while others are ticketed for grass being to high next door.Damn racket that has gone on for years and years

East Ellijay and Ellijay have similar reputations. City courts are pretty much kangaroo courts and revenue collections sites for these cities. Speeding tickets should not cost someone a few weeks pay! Fines have gotten out of hand, courts costs and such. Seems everyone has their hands in the pot! Look at the state and its "super speeder" surcharge. What a joke! It's all about revenue.

Just like Holly Springs police. They would rather collect revenue from Sunday morning church goers on 575 than catch gun thieves less than a mile from their station.

They havent won the case. Judge just didn't allow it to be dismissed out of hand. Good on the judge but a long way to go on something like this.

Yep, too bad it hasn't been that way in a long time. Remember when police departments didn't have military grade vehicles and gear? Back in the day they drove regular cards, dressed in dressy uniforms, and carried a pistol and a shotgun in the car. Now they all look like wannabe Navy Seals, decked out in battle gear like they're going to war.

The police dept. should have a fixed annual operating budget. Once the funds for that budget have been accumulated, any excess revenue should be credited back towards residents’ property taxes every year. Otherwise, you will always have a tremendous conflict of interest.
