Drilling and Tapping Remington 870

Looking for some input.

When drilling the holes is there an issue with drilling all the way through? The 6-48 screws will fill the hole, but it would be easier when tapping if I could just go all the way through.

I think you should be fine to drill all the way through as long as the screws don't patrude past the bottom of the hole into the action.

I'm not a gunsmith though. All my marlins have the scope mounting holes all the way through the top of the action

Yes, drill them all the way through. The factory holes are that way on guns so equipped.

The front screw will usually have to be shortened, or it will interfere with installing the barrel.
