Dropping Cable TV - possible alternatives??

You got really close family that has full cable or satellite? Look into Slingbox.
Think he paid about $200 for a wireless slingbox at BestBuy last year.

I'm in Cumming and subscribe to Comcast Internet. However, it includes basic TV. I told them I didnt need the TV and they said OK but it's free. I'm sort of glad it's setup that way because I also use Chromecast, Roku,& Apple TV until I tried to get Walking Dead Free. I then went to the "TV" tab on Comcast.com and was able to watch Walking Dead there (Free) I got hooked up and just displayed it on Apple TV. I did subscribe to Netflix and Hulu for a while but I felt both a waste of money. Rent movies from Redbox and display on TV $1.20 a movie is hard to beat.

Just thought of something else... I subscribe to Amazon Prime. Free shipping, and some free movies/TV. Your family can also use your Prime membership even those who dont live with you.

Thanks guys, you've pushed me further into making the decision. I think I'm going to do some research, order an HD antenna, and then cut the cable. I'll check out some of the different streaming options that you guys have mentioned, but either way I'm over paying for cable and it's time to move on.

I got a TiVo Premier and a really good HD antenna mounted high in the attic and a separate booster. Also have Netflix and Hulu along with a Roku and Xbox One (and a relatives login for ESPN and other chans) I pay the TiVo subscription because I want the guide and for pushing "downloaded" shows to the TiVo as well. I might have hears about this thing called torrents that might let you download shows like walking dead... Might have heard about that :) (pm me). We live 55-60 miles from Atl so when it rains real hard we lose most channels except ABC.

I switched to Netflix/ Hulu only a long time ago. Had the Hulu plus thing for some time but got tired of it feeling like regular TV with all the commercials. Now it's just Netflix/ Amazon Prime and the Prime is a happy bonus since I have it for the shipping. My biggest issue is with the cable provider and not the streaming. They've put a cap on bandwidth and Amazon Prime eats up some data.

Get internet and never look back. Use your buddies login info and you can use most TV channels online with the login. I have netflix, hulu plus, Vudu is good for movies, and Amazon Prime is AMAZING. Cable is overpriced garbage. ESP from comcast.
