Dry fireing...does it harm centerfire rifles or pistols?

Thread in 'Firearms Chat' started by crippen, Dec 8, 2018.

Does dry firing damage modern centerfire weapons?

  1. No, dry fire all you want (no rimfires)

I damaged a Ruger 9mm dry firing it. Most guns are supposed to be unharmed by dry firing, except 22lr guns, but I will not do any more of it.
That energy has to go somewhere.

Did the same in the AF. That was government property, not something I have to fix if I bust it.

The only guns of mine I dry fire is my glocks. Because hell, glocks don’t fail. Period.
