Duramax Diesel Questions

Its not that difficult. I paid local state tax based on douglas county where I live. I wasnt any different than buying in GA, other states may be different though.

Side note I did just remember, dont buy the truck till jan 1 though. Didnt they pass the new registration taxes that do away with ad valorem?

Hmm may have to wait to register the Jeep then.

I remember Clark Howard saying something about buying out of state, cant remember what is was, some dude bought a benz and got screwed. How is the AR shooting?

The unpopular “birthday tax” car owners pay ended when Gov. Nathan Deal signed the tax reform bill HB 386 earlier this year. The bill eliminates the annual ad valorem tax car owners pay and the sales tax manufacturers pay for future purchases.

Individuals who purchase a new or used car after March 1, 2013 will no longer have to pay the annual tax, but pay a one-time sales tax up front beginning at 6.5% in 2013 and increasing to 7% by 2015. The new sales tax will take the place of both the purchase sales tax, and the annual ad valorem tax.

Consumers who purchase a new or used car this year before March 1, 2013, will have the option to pay the one time title tax or continue to pay the yearly ad valorem "birthday" tax.

The new program will be phased in over about 10 years as current car owners will continue to pay the previous ad valorem tax as long as they keep their current vehicle.

The reform plan unanimously passed the state Senate and House, and was signed by Governor Deal during the Governor’s Awards Luncheon for the 2012 Manufacturers of the Year.

I have had a Dodge Ram 3500 with the 5.9 cummins in it for the past 5 years. It has 116000 on it now and has been great. Grid heater has been acting up lately. Got a superchip programmer on it and on high performance it puts out right at 490 HP. Usually run it in tow mode though. To tempting to put a mustang GT or a rice burner in there place on high setting. It will pull about anything u hook it to. Love my Dodge. Weak link is probably the 48RE transmission. Good luck with buying a diesel that don't have 200000 plus miles on it for under $10000 though

Duramax.... meh, just another Isuzu. Not horrid, but the accessories and interior will fall apart and if the Allison goes, it will explode. Dodge has crappy tranny's. Ford 6.0 isn't great, go with a 7.3 if lower budget, and you will be good to go.

Going to look at this one tomorrow, check out the smoke stacks! :D

Yeah, and the interior is a little rough, but it's a 7.3 4x4 with 168,000 miles and he's asking $8,000 obo for it
