I have a few extra cases of n95 face masks that I wear pretty much daily due to my work environment being high dust. I figured I’d put them on eBay, partially to help people who can’t get them and out of curiosity what would happen. They went from 60-160 in minutes and eBay took the listing down for price gouging. Can an auction be gouging? Not very happy eBay did this at all, and you can no longer list them. Back to storage they go

A sign of stupid times......if price gouging at a auction was possible fine art would have been band years ago....

That was my logic. Not my fault if people are dumb enough to over pay significantly. It seems to go against what I thought eBay was for, selling your items and letting the buyers decide the final price.

eBay (and other companies) restricting the sale of these items is only going to make it impossible for anyone to buy them. Virtue signalling by shutting down the sale of these types items on a venue that is by design, selling to that person MOST willing to pay is ridiculous. As a share holder I'd be furious.

They have made it quite literally impossible to get. It’s absurd that people who need it, can’t buy it. There’s thousands of masks people are trying to sell. On top of that, eBay takes 10% and with how the economy is, I’d be a very very furious shareholder

Throw in Paypal fees "they" collect (same ownership) and it runs close to 20% of my sales. I rarely use Ebay anymore and I have been a seller there (once a high volume power seller [antiques believe it or not]) since '99.

I can’t see how someone could run a business on there even. Add in their fees, shipping, PayPal, and for a income tax and you are giving away half of what you sell it for. It’s not bad for those like me who occasionally sell extra stuff or things we don’t use but I wouldn’t want a business doing it. I’m surprised someone hasn’t come up with a cheaper way of selling things
