Got it on a trade.
Full disassembly, all rust removed in/out, milled a small amount of the pitting off, replaced the springs, stripped-polished the cylinder/crane/ejector and seasoned, added a faux ivory grip adapter by BK and finished it off with some cold bluing. It shoots straight, locks up tight. Now it’s a truck gun. I prefer to work on older inexpensive guns to test, learn and experiment on different techniques of metal works. All thoughts, opinions and personal experiences are welcomed in the comments> good or bad. I welcome criticism.
Disclosure: I’m not a Gunsmith, I just have a passion for firearms and working on them & the shooting sports is good meditation for me.

That's good work. Except for the skinnier cylinder latch it looks exactly like an older Smith. I got a rough looking old RG model 40 you can do next.:becky:
That you Sir. The EIG 38spl is a clone of the S&W model 36. The cylinder latch is original as far as I know, but I’ll research it now that you’ve mentioned it. That’s the kind of input I was looking for. The replacement parts I used were for a smith 36. Your RG looks to have a lot of character as it sits.

Nothing wrong with that latch. It just looks more like one from an older Charter Arms. As for the old RG it does have tons of character. I got it on Gunbroker for a high bod of $62.00 plus shipping. Thinking about wrapping the grips with some electric or ball bat grip tape. You know for that street cred look.

I’m originally from up North, you want the real “Mobb” look?! They use black electrical [friction] tape. Home Depot has it cheap. The material absorbs the oil from your skin and doesn’t leave prints. I went to HS with several gangsters...that’s ole school from Philly/NY/Jersey

Funny you should mention Home Depot. I'm heading that way after we leave Cheddars in Warner Robins.
