This is so important. The entire electrical grid is vulnerable and can be taken out by a solar super storm, they generally occur on average every 150 years with the last one in 1859, or by a single nuclear explosion above the atmosphere. It would take out the main primary transformers. We have about 2000 of them installed in our grid. These are the most critical component in our grid. We would be without power for maybe years, because we do not have the inventory or the present ability to build these transformers. That means no cell service, no internet, no gas, no AC, no heat, no flowing water, etc.. We could protect the system at a relatively low cost by installing Gaussian shields around the transformers and installing surge protectors for them. This is a real thing to be concerned about!

Check out this video.

More likely a dump truck crosses the center line today and turns you into a bug splat on his bumper.

EMP does exist, but its effects are limited, not the "destroy everything with a wire" that alarmists claim.

Matter of when not if. Science is out on extent on damage but doesnt hurt to be prepared for worst case. Besides, it's a good excuse to talk the wife into letting you buy some remote property, a classic truck, and even more guns and ammo along with spending time "practicing needed skills" at the range and your favorite outdoor spots.

You mean prepping?

This is not about personal prepping. This is about getting the government to take some relatively low-cost steps that would greatly minimize the consequences. How many of you actually took the time to watch the video? This is not some neurotic nut-job. I am not suggesting you "not go to work", but maybe you owe it to your love ones to at least watch the video and not bury your head in the sand.
