ever been in a gun store and have a salesman refuse to sell a gun to an individual?

I worked behind the gun bar at Academy in Athens while in college and we had to turn away plenty of people for one reason or another. One guy had his wife filling out the 4473 with his information and got super pissed when we told them he needed to fill it out himself. He then wanted to just have her buy it in her name and we had to explain what a straw purchase was which only fueled his anger even more. They ended up storming out.

Back in the 80's, I worked part time in a bait, tackle and gun shop in Florida. I had an older gentleman, obviously from New York City, by his accent, wanting to buy a handgun for protection. He told me that he wanted a "gun like the police carry"! So I brought out a Smith and Wesson Model 19 .357 Magnum to show him. He said, "No, I want a turty eight Schmitt and Wesson, like the New Yawk police carry". He went on to state that he, "only wanted it to scare someone away if the broke in his house"!!

That is when I told him that if he pulled a gun on someone, he had better be ready to use it. He repeated that he only wanted to scare someone breaking in his home. That is when I refused to sell him a gun. He raised holy hell, but the store owner backed me up. No sale was made!

I had a man walk in a few years ago and ask a few question then say " This may sound weird but What's the best caliber to blow your head off?"
I said " I can not sell you a gun. You need to leave". Then I called the police.

Both Georgia gun and Forsyth county pawn are top notch stores.
Mike and Kelly at GG and Brian at FCP have always treated me well. I am not surprised
Good folks

Saw the guys at Bullseye Marksman Gun range not rent a lady a lane and gun for the same reasons. The lady asked which gun will kill someone with one shot and said she didn't want to buy the whole box of ammo, just a few would do. The guys called the police, but the lady left before they could get there to get to the bottom of everything.

They also talked a young man down out of the restroom after he rented a gun and was confronted for pointing it at himself on the range. The young man ran into the restroom with the gun and locked the door. Richard was able to get the door unlocked and went in to talk to the boy. The parents and police responded, that's when it was discovered the boy was off his meds and had attempted suicide before. Richard is a little off, but it sure seems like he saved a boy that day.

I'd bet money he was some type of liberal anti gun idiot filming the whole thing to make a point that even though he said "it's a great gun to take out a lot of people" they still sold him the gun.

Good for the store not to sell. They probably would have ended up on some news station or liberal website.

Yep. I'd bet a few $$$ as well.
