Or should I say had a relative that was worth gifting a firearm to?
A little backstory: Childhood pretty much sucked (seriously) but with that said no ones childhood is perfect. We move on and try to separate ourselves from that...stuff.
Point being I have an uncle who over the years has always done all sorts of nice things for me, always included me in on things when I was growing up, and taught me some great lessons too.
So after a few hardships (wife's illness amongst a few others) all seems to be on the upswing. So I've been thinking for a while now why not show some appreciation to someone that has made a difference in my life? Tomorrow I'm purchasing him a brand new 686. I have waited and waited for a 7-shot model (+) to become available and one finally has. I did want this one to be new.
I know he will love the platform it just gets kind of tricky with the barrel length (preference of). I know he's got at least one (to my knowledge) S&W .357 in a shorter barrel and some other things he tends to tote around the families' property. I have to think the 6" barrel will work nicely for him when target shooting and target shooting.
Anyway I'd love to hear some stories. Anyone ever done this? Ever done this for someone other than your kids or spouse?
