Have you ever messed with the barrel extension? Installation, swap out, any experience at all? I do not here much here.
I know Brownells sells a tool for extension installs but I've never heard of anyone using one.
Every barrel I've ever bought already had the extension installed, and I've only purchased from reputable, known sources so I don't sweat headspace either.

Well that starts back when about 10. My father was a Maytag repair man. Sears would send him out on repair calls. He was to big to get behind them so I got back there and did all the work. So I got a lot of mechanical training at 10. He would also have me crawl to the back of the engine on our 71 Cadillac to get to that big 472 cubic inch distributor because he couldn't reach it. I was setting points and changing plugs and setting the timing during the same time. I also had a Yamaha Yz80 I worked on all the time. This was all before I was 11. So since then I pretty much just take it apart and I can instantly know what does what and how it works. The AR platform was so simple I just gave up the grease and gas and started with nice clean rifles to work on. That's been years ago.
I get it you are a mechanical guy..most of us are...the ones that are really good at it have there own fab shops and legitimate gun smiths the ones that dont are just enthusiasts..Im a jack of all trades..but im not an expert i havent spent 10thousand hours building any particular platform..we get it you like to build ARs
