Does anybody know of an auto restoration shop that has REAL experience with older TransAms? I don't have $80,000 to invest in a complete body off restoration, but I would like someone that knows how to paint and assemble one correctly. There are a lot of parts to put on after they are painted. Ideally, I would like to have the engine bay detailed, the car painted and assembled, and the interior done.

This is on a 1976 TransAm. It is a "numbers matching" 455/4 speed car. I have owned it since 1979, and the car has been inside since 1984. It will go back with original color, which is Cameo White with buckskin interior. If anyone knows of such a specialist, please let me know.

Thanks

I don't really do restoration work for customers anymore, although I have done a few in depth jobs on a some trans ams in the past. Just can't spare the time, space or man power to take on projects like this any more.

I know of a couple people but they are out of state....slow....and expensive!!! I have several buddies that are Pontiac nuts; I will check with them.

Love them Pontiacs.....below is my '76, 4-spd car like yours. Color looks red but it is actually the original burnt orange color.

Check with Rick Garmon. I know he did one of the first Year One bandit cars. 770-921-7854. Be sure to ask for Rick.

Contact Year One there are north of Atlanta,I don't know if they can help you but I do know they bought up all the TransAms they could find a few years ago to do Smokey and Bandit cars.

Thanks guys. I have a friend that knows Rick Garmon. He does some nice work. I have dealt with Year One since they opened years ago in Tucker. They don't like to give out their sources. They claim it is about the liability of referring someone and them not being satisfied. Anyway, I did manage to get a name for a shop that does some of their stuff, so I will talk to them.

I have a 76 TA, but automatic. 400 engine, Hurst (leaking) T-Tops, auto windows. Would love to get it to a point where I could take it out without worrying something will break. Pint is good, but I need help with drive train, suspension, and under the hood details. Also, looking to do something with the undercarriage, paint, something.

Shotgun 01, I feel your pain. The few folks I have talk to want my bank account balance before they even talk to me. Would be nice to find a person that just likes working on these cars, not for free, that non wealthy vintage car owners can turn to and get work done without going broke.
