So you're angry at Costco for trying to excercise a policy that you knew they had when you signed up for a membership?All because you were in hurry.....should have gone to a grocery store, not Costco.
Agreed. It definitely wasn't the fault of the employee at the exit.
I was at brandsmart one time. All I bought was a dvd and the "line" to leave the store AFTER checking out was a mile long and taking forever. I just walked past the line. The guy with the highlighter by the door stood in front of me and told me I had to wait to be checked. I have him the eat **** and die look and he got out of my way. It may be a policy, but it's not a law. I know the proper way to deal with it is if you don't like it then vote with your money and don't shop there. In this particular instance I had never been there before and didn't know I was going to have to wait 20 minutes to walk out the door. I have never been back.

For that matter I always wondered how the same scenario would play out at Adventure Outdoors. Why the hell does "Big John" need to see your receipt when he just watched you walk 10 feet from the register to the door. What are they going to do if I someone says no? How far are they willing to push that pissing contest? As far as I know no one has any legal right to detain you from leaving their property. At what point does it become kidnapping? You know he's armed and he should reasonably assume you are too. Is it really so far fetched that the above scenario could turn deadly? Meh.

The gentleman was about 6ft and 300lbs. He attempted to physically obstruct me from leaving. He told me I needed to wait in line. I politlely said no thank you. He roostered up on me. Not exactly the sweet little old lady at walmart. Like I said, I didn't realize I was going to be held hostage after buying a damn DVD. This wasn't Walmart or Costco where someone reasonably friendly was going through a quick and painless process. This was a drawn out time consuming cluster ****. Now I know so I just don't shop there.
Costco's founder is a huge anti gun pro Obama liberal. I canceled my membership a few years ago after he sent employees an email encouraging them to reelect Obama. Costco expressly prohibits its employees from possessing firearms in their automobiles and fires violators. If a manager overhears an employee talking about hunting before or after work, he can demand to search the employee's vehicle.
I prefer not to do business with organizations like Costco.
