Fannin County residence listen up - new EMA ordinance - possible gun grab

I live in Fannin Co but unfortunately am overseas for work. I'm going to have my wife copy the article and email it to me, at which time I'll post it here. I'm also going to try and get my Dad to go to the meeting tonight.

Hey, don't shoot the messenger here. A friend who lives there and has connections to what is purported to be in the ordinance made me aware. I posted it so Fannin residence could go and hear what the real meat of what this is about. Bash the news outlet for limiting what they publish on line. I just found that in a search to give credibility to the meeting.

OK, I just got back home after the first reading of the ordinance. The ordinance basically gives the commission chairman (county manager in Fannin county) the right to declare an emergency and renew it every thirty days, unchecked. During an emergency, the EMA and Sheriff's department have the right to enter homes without permission. This is presented in the guise of health and safety checks. It also allows the county government to take private property from private citizens if they need it. I think this could be construed to include guns, although the document did not specifically say that.

Our county commission meetings are usually attended by 10 to 15 people and tonight there were over 100 there. Nobody spoke in favor of the ordinance and many of our leading citizens took a public stand against it, including a former fire chief, former coroner, one of our school principals and several business owners.

I asked the commission chairman, during the question and answer period where this ordinance came from and he answered Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), but he acted like he really didn't know where it came from. I had a chance to talk to our EMA director for a few minutes after the meeting and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency is where the boiler plate for this ordinance was downloaded. It looks to me like this came from GEMA.

The scary part is that this ordinance, or some variant of it, will be considered in all counties of Georgia. The underground theme here is that unless this ordinance is enacted, grant money will be withheld. As I was leaving, our EMA director said that it was either being considered or has been enacted in Cherokee County, so you folks that live there need to look into this.

My take is, and several others at the meeting agreed, that this was a terrible assault on our fourth amendment rights.

The county clerk agreed to send me a copy of the ordinance via e-mail. Once I have it, I will post it on one of my websites for all to read.

Have a great evening.

The link is not showing the full article. Oh, and remember, nobody can enter your home without a warrant and take your guns under any circumstances. Shoot them and be a hero. Others will follow you. People in New Orleans should have started shooting the police and Natl. Guard and stood up for the 4th Amendment. Bunch of Pansies.

For those of us who still believe in the US Constitution:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
